How can I tell you about HandBrake, which converts almost everything to everything, without telling you about VLC, which plays almost everything? Well, VLC is a cross-platform, multi-platform, media player for a ton of formats (MPEG, DiVX, ogg). Anyway, take my word on it, even if you don’t need it now, you’ll probably need it sometime someday to play something foreign you downloaded but realized didn’t work with your QuickTime.
Don’t forget to download your VLC Remote Lite from the App Store, the free version gives you basic controls and the paid version gives you scary functionality to browse entire directories to play.
