The weather’s so nice in the Netherlands now… what shall I do today?
–
Time to do my hair first… small tip: I use Sebastian Potion No. 9. You can get it at Funky Hair or HQHair or whatever.
Then you twist your hair and let it air dry. I look weird. Who cares! Its the weekend and my weekend posts shall all be random from now onwards. Its the Summer 5:2 rule.
So, I wanted to try to make a nice video to send to my parents with iMovie. I’ve never done it before. Plus the weather’s nicer now, still the gloomy “Dutch” weather, but warmer at least. It was supposed to be 15 degrees! And since my friends were going to Utrecht I thought might as well. Utrecht is only 30 minutes from Amsterdam and most of my friends prefer it to Amsterdam anyway. To get there, the train connects there via the NS Line, and if you travel alot in Netherlands, I also suggest that you buy the NS card, it gives you 40% discount on all trains after 9am on weekdays. The return trip to Utrecht is only 13.80EUR.
Lots of shops, but quaint at the same time. The beauty of Utrecht lies in how the canals connect to each other and the quiet feeling being lost in the city. Here are some gems of the city just walking around for a couple of hours. Dan kept telling everyone that I was getting “blog footage”! How embarrassing! I’m almost like the Asian tourist you see which carry along three cameras from a SLR to a cheap disposable camera to make sure I get every shot of the city. Btw, I don’t put other people on my blog just in case.
The back or “achter” of a church, with a painting of what is inside the church behind the statue. I guess you are supposed to pretend you are inside.
Lovely canals along Utrecht, some of them had restaurants as well below which looked terribly expensive.
So of course we hung out waiting for the Spanish to come, and walked along Utrecht to discover even more interesting sights, including this one. So this is one question I’m kind of dying to ask. What exactly is this anyway? If you cannot see it closely, it is a store window of two mannequins who are supposed to be jockeys. Except all their underwear are exposed and the horse is nearby. One is even holding a whip.
I am serious. Don’t you just love the Netherlands? Another picture which looks as if it came out of a bad animal porn movie.
No, this is not the red light district.
And another sight of a mannequin, except this one seems to get out of the house. Or to get away from a horse, who knows.
So yeah, I got a couple of hours in Utrecht, and I’m not exactly the best person to talk about the Tourist attractions there so you could head off to check out their official website if you would like to pay a visit. I just like getting lost in cities and taking strange photos and collecting stories. But yeah, according to them: Utrecht has a rich history that goes back to the beginning of our calendar. The old inner-city, with its canals and cellars by the wharves, ancient churches, and of course the Dom tower, give the city a distinctive character.
I just.. like getting lost in cities.
